$2.75 per subway ride and $11 for LIRR off peak... peak is $15.75 (at least for my zone). And that's just one way.

Just another reason to get away from the city! Sucks though.

How recently? Last time I was in NYC (early January) I thought the subway was $2.75.
Still doesn't beat the $0.50 subway rides in Shanghai!

It was $2.50 in January. They changed the rates in late March.

Clearly I don't pay enough attention when I swipe my MTA card.

I have been going underneath them a bit lately ;P

you're lucky your fare 'only' costs $2.75. we have to pay $3.45 here now, to get on buses that depend on road conditions. Price spiked up from $3.25 per ride last year.

I guess if you know which stations have the full one and the ones that don't you could save a ton of Money.
When I was there in January I took some coworkers that have never been to NYC out on the town. At the Columbus Circle station a couple of MTA employees opened the gate for us and let us all in.

Don't forget that in June they're shutting down the Transitway east of Hurdman, I think.

Requisite:

A friend took a job 10 minutes from home as opposed to an hour away, yet the pay was $60 less a week. She actually had more cash. Fuck commuting to the city. My commute is 12 miles and I go into Suffolk to work (live in Nassau). Oh, and I work midnights. Empty 10 minute parkway ride.....
I'm stealing the gif by the way.
